Dean for Graduate Affairs and Diversity
Dr. Eric M. Riggs is Associate Dean for Graduate Affairs and Diversity in the College of Geosciences at Texas A&M University. He is responsible for oversight and development of all graduate programs and graduate student matters. He is also charged with monitoring the academic climate and diversity of the College and is tasked with taking direct action to improve the environment for an increasingly diverse population of faculty, students and staff. Riggs is also an Associate Professor of Geoscience Education in the Department of Geology & Geophysics. The Riggs Group studies many related aspects of teaching, learning and cognition in the geosciences.
His primary research is in understanding how people learn in complex geological settings, including petroleum and sedimentary systems, structural geology, and geoscience education in international or cross-cultural learning situations.
