Facilitator Laurie Priest (Mount Holyoke College) discussed why addressing equity and perceptions of equity is essential for a healthy organization.

Keynote Address

Speaker Bert Jacobs kicked off the 2016 Campus Climate Conference. He shared the importance of choosing to be positive and optimistic for individuals in the workplace, and discuss the positive impact of optimism for organizations.

Facilitator Ms. Eliana Mijangos lead participants through conference sessions and comments from Texas A&M University President Michael Young.

Session 1: Leadership in Organizational Climate

9:30 am – 10:30 am

Dean Pamela Matthews examined the importance of taking a leadership role in climate, diversity, and equity within an organization and implementation strategies to positively impact workplace climate.

Session 2: Impact of Bias

10:40 am – 11:40 am

Mr. Jack Manhire discussed the impact of bias in influencing workplace climate, equity, and diversity.

Lunch & Poster Session

11:40 am – 12:45 pm

A showcase of faculty, student, and staff research and projects related to climate, diversity, equity, inclusion, and accountability.

Session 3: Dean’s Panel

12:45 pm – 1:45 pm

Dean Joyce Alexander made introductory remarks for the Dean’s Panel and Dean Andrew Morriss moderated. Deans Meigan Aronson, Eli Jones and Jorge Vanegas discussed various topics relating to climate, diversity, and equity.

Session 4: A Conversation about Civility

Ambassador Ryan Crocker discussed civil behavior and creating a civil workplace.
